My selfie this week has to do with death. I used makeup and fake blood to make it look as if I died and started bleeding from my eyes, nose, and mouth. This is what comes to mind when i think of death. Death is cruel. It scares me but also is intriguing to observe.
Quotes from the introduction:
"...I draw on this idea to argue that deception and invention frame the production of every individual's ordinary social life" pg.2
"...'what you see is not what it is'" pg.9
The reading talked much about how everything around us is shown a certain way, which may not be the truth. Everyone puts on different masks/personas to different people and only show what they want to be shown. The author also talked much about Hollywood and how everything there is made up of deception and lies. It shows a good example to not believe in everything you see. Many of our personas are molded by what society and media puts out into the world.
