Cindy Sherman is one of the best and well known photographers today. She works in series, usually photographing herself in different costumes. All of the work she has she does by herself. She shows people that everyone has more than one identity. She also shows that a person can be whatever they want to be.

           

The picture I have chosen shows my fun self, the one that is shown to most people I meet. I enjoy the outdoors more than I do the city, and I’m always going out of my way to be adventurous.  

            

Much like Cindy Sherman’s work, Janis’s paintings show the different identities that people can be. She even goes deep to show the darker, sadder self’s. Like in her paintings “Pretty in Pink”. I feel those showed the pressure of how girls are pressured to look perfect. They always should have a nice body, perfect hair, perfect face. Her paintings show the stress this could put on a person and the emotions most girls hide on the inside.
