We represent ourselves in images by captivating the world by the creativity we design in our images.''The spectacle is not a collection of images; it is a social relation between people that is mediated by images.'' This quote is a perfect example because just like the artist cindy sherman she used her images in a way that connect to the person viewing it could relate or made them think. Art and culture can teach us about our own identity because it’s a representation of our daily lives.     Such as a snap chat or instagram which people use every day. As we take a picture of our picture of ourself we are identifying who we are by the images we take. And in a way this is how we learn by the pictures we take because we representing who we are as a person. That is one thing about social media is that people use it on a regular basis. This is a reson why I picked the pictures I used for this class because they represent me as a person.       When people go above the normal or irregularity of our every day lives people think the person is crazy. Not a lot of people ever stop to realize maybe the person is different or is trying to represent themselves in there own way. Such as orlan did she used surgery on her body to represent her art work which lead to a lot of critisim and concerned. As an artist she didn’t care what people said she was expressing herself as a person.      Most people care about what other people say because the social media plays a big part in our every day lives.''The spectacle cannot be understood as a mere visual excess produced by mass-media technologies. It is a worldview that has actually been materialized, that has become an objective reality.''The media tells you how use should be dressed how women's body should look. But orlan did something that most people would not think would be normal by implanting in her head while most other women do it in there butts. So you can see she stands out and the implants in her head made her look ugly but if she did it in her butt it would probably be more attractive and she would have fallen in the normality of society.      '' The spectacle presents itself simultaneously as society itself, as a part of society, and as a means of unification. As a part of society, it is ostensibly the focal point of all vision and all consciousness. But due to the very fact that this sector is separate, it is in reality the domain of delusion and false consciousness: the unification it achieves is nothing but an official language of universal separation'' The reason I picked this quote because the reality is we are all different in our own unique way. what we create can be inspriation to others like frida did. Using your own health issues and changing them into a positive as she used in her art work. She expressed her pains and struggles in life in her art work.
